Green Champions Awareness Animation Programme at Keeranur

Participants: 177 CRC Children from 11 CRCs
As part of the Green Champions Project, an awareness animation programme was organized at Don Bosco Youth Village, Keeranur, bringing together 177 children from 11 Community Resource Centres (CRCs), accompanied by their CRC Tutors. The programme aimed to create environmental awareness and encourage children to become responsible Green Champions in their homes, schools, CRCs, and communities.
The children were warmly welcomed with refreshments before the programme. Fr. Arul introduced the purpose of the gathering and encouraged the children to recognize their responsibility in caring for nature. Mrs. Arockiamary, CRC Coordinator, welcomed the participants and expressed her joy at bringing all the CRC children together.
Fr. Joseph facilitated the Green Champions animation, focusing on climate change, the importance of planting and protecting trees,, kitchen gardening, and reducing the use of plastic. The children actively participated and learned how simple daily actions can contribute to environmental protection.
Following the animation, Fr. James taught the children a nature-themed song. The children also presented dances and awareness songs on nature and environmental protection, expressing the messages they had learned through creativity and music.
The programme also included a fellowship lunch, followed by the distribution of files, pens, and notepads to support the children’s forthcoming Green Champions activities and animations. The children were eager to become the Green Champions.
